The Benefits of Steel Hub Construction
The application determines the type of hub construction needed. Available in offset or symmetrical hub styles.
Heavy Duty Use
Light and Medium Duty Use
For heavy duty applications a tube is welded to the discs. Bearings are pressed into the tube. For medium duty, a wheel with bearings pressed into the discs is the standard and common type recommended. Other medium-duty hubs shown below, are additional methods of reinforcing standard hubs to take excessive shock or side thrust.
Steel tube is welded 360% to both discs. Heavier gauge steel used in discs provides added protection to bearings. Permits bearing replacement if necessary. A must for maximum strength.
Each disc is extruded to accept press fit of many styles of bearings. Well suited for most applications. Wheel discs receive support internally with the aid of a steel spacer tube which fits snugly within the welded disc halves.
Note: Illustration on this page shows symmetrical style hub. The same methods of reinforcement are available for offset steel hubs.
